Tanner wished for a magical tea party
When Tanner was five, she was diagnosed with Leigh’s Syndrome, which is a rare inherited neurometabolic disorder that affects the central nervous system and its symptoms are typically rapid in progression. Now six-years-old, Tanner is spunky as ever. She is said to never let her limitations get her down and is very independent, always saying, “I do it!”. Since the day she could walk, Tanner has loved to play dress up and her wish was to have a tea party with a Disney Princess. The decision of which princess was an easy, no-brainer, it would be Cinderella of course! She is Tanner’s very favorite princess, so much so that Tanner calls her, “Relly”.
Children’s Wish Foundation was happy to fulfill Tanner’s wish and create the most magical tea party for her and her friends, but with a certain special guest, Cinderella. She, along with Tanner, were the guests of honor at the tea party. The day started with Cinderella telling stories about her life as a princess, leading the guests in song, and teaching princess lessons. Next up was the face painting done by Cinderella herself along with tea and snacks. There were all sorts of goodies to top off the occasion, such as personalized cake and cookies, an arrangement of balloons with Tanner’s name on it that included the number 6 to celebrate her special day, and a porcelain tea set for all the guests to use. There were also loads of party favors including bracelets, necklaces, lip gloss, rings, and crayons. But the best of all were the tutus and crowns so that each guest could be a princess too.
Tanner’s Mom said, “Tanner isn’t very verbal and most just squeals in excitement and smiles, which she most definitely was that day! And she just kept wanting to hold Cinderella’s hand and she cried when she had to leave”. A magical day it was, indeed, and a memory Tanner will cherish forever!
