Carlos wished for an Xbox Series X

Teenage boy with Xbox

First diagnosed at age 12, Carlos had emergency surgery to amputate his lower left leg because of a blood clot. His doctor told us that he was considered “extremely high risk for life-threatening thrombosis” and that his expected lifetime was less than two years. Due to this condition, Carlos required medical care for the rest of his life, including regular visits to a Hemophilia and Thrombosis center to manage the clotting disorder.

The one place Carlos has always felt like he belongs is online, so he wished for an Xbox Series X. With his physical limitations, playing video games gives him the freedom to slip into other personas and excel in imaginary worlds where physical limitations are non-existent. It also gives him the confidence and the chance to connect with other gamers, especially his brothers. He feels that he is part of a community where no one judges him except for his amazing gaming skills and everyone wants to be a part of his online team. Thanks to the support of donors around the world, we were able to grant his wish and give him the space to connect with others online in the gaming community.
