Philip’s Wish for a Cruise Vacation

Phillip E. is a 15-year-old boy from Gallatin, MO, who has had Cystic Fibrosis since birth. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that is caused by thick mucus that builds up in the lungs and digestive system. Phillip is a strong kid who has a hard life. What is “normal” for him isn’t what is “normal” for most, and he sometimes struggles with the daily treatment he has to go through. His family is his biggest supporter and helps him remember to focus on the positive. He loves working on cars, the water, and animals.

Phillip’s wish was to go on a Cruise vacation with his whole family, which includes an older brother who would soon be deployed for three years. Children’s Wish was grateful and humbled to be able to help Phillip’s wish come true. Phillip and his family were able to go on a cruise to the Southern Caribbean. The cruise left from Florida, and ended in New Orleans, LA. They stopped at various ports on the trip, including: Aruba, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands and Cozumel, Mexico. Phillip’s favorite part was the excursion in Mexico, because the whole family was able to go ziplining. He enjoyed the freedom and zipping and flying around in the beautiful Cozumel. This was an experience where Phillip and his family got to spend time together as a family and made lifelong memories.
