Children's Wish Foundation

Wish Fulfillment

Our flagship program remains our Wish Fulfillment Program and through it, Children’s Wish has fulfilled thousands of Wishes for children in 53 countries.  In order to qualify for a wish, a child needs to be under the age of eighteen when the completed application arrives in our office and must be diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. Finally, the wish must truly be the child’s wish, allowing them to fully experience the once in a lifetime opportunity of their dreams.  If a child is too young to express a wish that is their own, we refer them to our Young Minds program.                                                                                                                                     Who can apply for a wish? Children under the age of 18 who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and who have a limited life expectancy may apply for a wish.  The child's treating physician makes the final determination of whether a child's medical condition qualifies him or her for a wish. What are the limitations for wish fulfillment? Children’s Wish fulfills wishes for children from birth to eighteen who suffer from a life-threatening or terminal illness. We do not have a minimum age, however, if the child's health allows it, we try to wait to fulfill the wish until the child is old enough to fully enjoy and remember the experience.  If the child is unable to wait, we refer them to the Young Minds program.  The child’s doctor determines whether the wish desired is suitable given the child's medical condition and we work with the child, family and doctors to find the best time for the child to enjoy their wish. How much money does the family pay for the wish?  Because of generous donors, our families do not pay anything for their child’s wish.  Children’s Wish covers all costs for the child and their immediate family. Do you have a list of wishes for my child to choose from?  We do not provide a list of wishes.  Your child provides the list to us and we work to fulfill your child’s most desired wish.                Past wishes typically fall in one of these categories:I wish to go to…      I wish to meet…      I wish to have…      I wish to be…
