Most kids dream of their Sweet Sixteen as being the birthday that is better than any other—a day more special than any other in their lives.  Children’s Wish Foundation International knew Genevieve felt the same way…so we arranged a birthday trip that surpassed anything she could have imagined! Genevieve battled Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. As a teen whose life had changed drastically since her battle with Ewing’s began, she simply longed for an escape…the chance to spend her most special day—her Sixteenth Birthday—in Hawaii. To ensure that Genevieve’s trip to paradise would be all she had hoped for, we spent endless hours researching all of the exciting excursions that would make Genevieve’s trip perfect. We worked with her medical team to ensure that her treatment schedule would allow her to feel her strongest for nonstop excursions in Hawaii.  When she stepped off of the plane in Hawaii, she was welcomed with an official lei greeting, marking the beginning of her wish-of-a-lifetime. Nothing could stop Genevieve and she experienced everything she had longed for: a tour of a magnificent rain forest, snorkeling in the crystal Pacific sea, and swimming with dolphins during a VIP tour of a marine facility. After all of the activity exploring the islands, Children’s Wish knew she’d need some “down time”, so Children’s Wish even surprised her with a full day of pampering at her resort’s spa! When Genevieve arrived home, she couldn’t wait to share all of her exciting adventures with her friends. And, as her photos showed: her sixteenth birthday truly was “Sweet”!
